Just before the start of the new football season, Ipswich Town FC swooped for the experienced midfielder Jonathan Douglas from Brentford.
The 33-year-old captained Brentford last season, scoring eight goals. But he was released at the end of the season on a free transfer.
After signing a one-year deal at Portman Road, the Irishman wrote on Twitter: “Delighted with my move to a club like Ipswich Town. Really looking forward to having a successful season with them and hopefully gaining promotion. I cannot wait to start working with the staff and players here”

He’s probably one of the most experienced players in the Championship. He was captain at Leeds as well as Brentford and he has international experience with the Republic of Ireland.
